The Australian Air League is a youth organisation for children between the ages of 8 - 18 with a passion for aviation as a career or hobby. The organisation is entirely self-funding and is staffed by volunteers who give their time generously to achieve its goals.

Cadets have the opportunity to be involved in numerous activities including:

  • Aviation Education - Theory of Flight, Engineering, Gliding and Soaring, Meteorology, Rocketry and Drones

  • Ceremonial Drill

  • Team Building and Leadership Training

  • Model Aircraft, Balsa and Kites

  • Camp Craft

  • Powered Flight and Gliding Camps

The STEM activities offered by the Australian Air League provide children with a passion for aviation the chance to explore this further in a fun and friendly environment. It is through these activities, that the cadets build strong and lasting friendships, while gaining educational and life skills. Cadets also have the opportunity to compete at local and national competitions such as Group and Federal reviews and earn proficiency badges and rank recognition..

The aims and objectives of the Australian Air League include:

  • To promote and encourage the development of Aviation in the Youth of Australia

  • To promote good citizenship by participating in ANZAC Day Marches, attending Remembrance Day Services and assisting at community activities

  • To promote ingenuity and resourcefulness of its members

  • To develop the physical and mental abilities of its members

How Can Your Child Join?

First step is to contact the Commanding Officer of the squadron you are interested in to arrange to come along to a parade night to see how it all works. We do have a rotating timetable and hold specific parade nights where we focus on education, drill, aircraft modelling and physical activities. From time to time we also have guest speakers from the aviation industry come along and have visits to aviation-related venues.

On your first night it'll all seem new, so we recommend that you come along for a few weeks first. This will give you a chance to enjoy Air League before you make a financial commitment.
